28.4 miles/45.5 km.
First section of the route takes you through the City and Wapping and then down the Isle of Dogs and under the foot tunnel to Greenwich.
You then run along the south bank of the Thames past the 02, Woolwich and the Thames Barrier. The river starts to widen out and you then go past Thamesmead, Crossness and Erith. Last part is south via Dartford Creek to Dartford.
Two points of interest about Dartford Station:
- There are direct trains terminating at Kentish Town. (Why?)
- There is a plaque on one of the platforms recording Mick Jagger's and Keith Richards' meeting which resulted in them forming the Rolling Stones.
Route not risk-assessed by the Chasers committee.
