Club Handicap 2025

Date: Thu 22 May 2025
Time: 18:45

This is a handicap race with a staggered start, with handicaps chosen so that if everyone came in PB shape on the day everyone would finish simultaneously.

The race is 3.5 miles around Highgate Woods. It's a mostly flat course, but there are a few short dips up and down. The route is light trail but with plenty of tree roots and it can be quite muddy when there's been a lot of rain. Nevertheless, you could get away with practically any shoe except the more delicate super shoes.

Handicapping

To compete in the race you will need a handicap, and to get a handicap you must run at least one race - just a Parkrun will do. If you don't have an official handicap you can still run the route on the day for fun, but will not be eligible for a prize.

You can view your personal handicap at the bottom of your results page. John has written a web page explaining how handicaps are calculated.

Prize

TBD but there will be one!

On the day details

We are meeting at the sports ground in Highgate Wood

Registration opens at 18:45. There will be a race briefing at 19:00. The first runner will set off at approximately 19:05.

Could volunteers please arrive by 18:30.

Social afterwards

We've booked the Winchester Pub (just down Archway Road, still close to Highgate tube for getting home). They do Yard Sale Pizza so great chance to refuel and 'catch up' with everyone you were chasing at the race!
