The Ridgeway is the most convenient long distance footpath to NW5. It is an 87 mile national footpath from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire (near Tring) to Avebury. It is a prehistoric trail - England's oldest road apparently. The eastern 2/3rds are along the Chilterns, the undulating chalk hills north west of London. You probably will not want to run the whole 87 miles in one go (although there are races available if you want to!) but there are lots of great day trips. There are a number of railway stations along the route eg Tring, Princes Risborough, Goring and Streatley, Swindon and you can either run out and backs or run between the stations.
This run is an out and back route starting from Wigginton.
