Mornington Chasers Newsletter
12 October 2025
It’s been another busy week at chasers! Cross Country season is back with a bang, and the autumn winter races are in full swing with lots of impressive finish lines crossed and PB's. Stay tuned for lots more fun to come.
Mornington Chasers Regent’s Park 10k Winter Series - Sunday 2nd November
A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the October race — what a brilliant start to the Regent’s Park Winter 10K Series! And of course, a massive shoutout to our amazing volunteers who helped make it all happen — we couldn’t do it without you. As we look ahead to the November race, we’re on the lookout for more volunteers to join the team. It’s a great way to get involved (and comes with some great perks, like free race entries and priority consideration for events like The Big Half and the London Marathon!), so if you’d like to help out, check out the sign-up link here.
Let’s keep the momentum going and try and get as many runners as october if not more! We’d love to see as many Chasers and friends as possible. Please do encourage your friends, aunts, neighbours, cousins, and mums to take part and get on that start line! Use the code MC15 for an exclusive 15% discount and come join us for a fun, friendly, and festive winter racing season.
Sign up for the November race here.
If you can't make the November race, worry not!! have a look to see if you can do any of the other races in the series, which are on the calendar too:
Sunday 7th December: Sign up here to volunteer
Sunday 4th January: Sign up here to volunteer
Sunday 1st Febuary: Sign up here to volunteer
Sunday 1st March: Sign up here to volunteer
Beginners course
The Chasers beginners course is going strong, big well done to all our beginners, and we couldn’t do it without our amazing volunteers — thank you to everyone who’s helped so far! We’re always looking for more Chasers to lend a hand, so if you’d like to get involved, sign up for the next session on the chaser calendar or please do let Romany or nick know! It’s a great way to give back to the club, support new runners, and meet more of the Chasers community.
Cabbage Patch - Club Champs Sunday 19th October
The much-anticipated Club Champs are finally here! This Sunday, we’ll be taking on a scenic, flat course that winds its way through the beautiful Twickenham and Richmond area, starting and finishing at The Cabbage Patch pub. It’s the perfect setting for some friendly competition, and a great chance to show the South West London crowd that North London running clubs are where it’s at! And after all that effort, we’ll be heading to The Fox in Twickenham, where Izzy has kindly booked us a spot to enjoy a well-deserved pint (or two!).
Link to the pub here.
Cross Country guide and upcoming races
Cross country season is officially underway! time to embrace the mud (or very hard and dry ground) and the hills. Well done to everyone who kicked things off at the Chingford League 5K around the Velo Park (a nice change from the usual Hog Hill grind!) and to all who tackled the first Met League race at Claybury Park. It’s great to see so many Chasers getting stuck in.
Thinking about giving cross country a go but not sure where to start? We’ve put together a handy FAQ guide for anyone curious about XC — what to expect, what to wear, and why it’s way more fun than it sounds (mud included). Huge thanks to Anna for the idea, Dan L and Rafaele for the edits, and David for getting it up on the site. Check it out here and see if it convinces you to join the fun. Here are a few of the myths that can be found in the guide to help!
I can’t do cross country, I’m not fast enough
Absolutely false. There are runners of many different abilities and ages, so if you can do a Tuesday run over 8km (especially a Hampstead Heath route), you will be well able to run a cross country course. Also, this is a TEAM event. To score as a team we need a minimum number, therefore it will help the team to have the correct number, no matter what your speed!
I can’t do cross country, it’s too muddy!
Yes, some races are muddy, but not that many! And the mud is far outweighed by the team spirit, endorphins from getting out even on a dark winter day and maybe even baked goods or a hot chocolate.
Who should I ask to find out more information about cross country at Mornington Chasers?

St Neots half marathon
St Neot’s Half Marathon 16th November
Entries are open for St Neot’s half marathon. This is a favourite of the Chasers - St Neots Riverside Runners host this annual half marathon on a course with PB potential (a downhill finish!). If you would like to get the bus from Talacre to St Neot’s, please sign up on the website so we can get an idea of numbers.
Chaser Christmas Party! Save the date - 5th December
As Mariah Carey says “It’s tiiiimeeee!”… for the Chaser Christmas party season! Our social secs have locked in the venue and date for this year’s Christmas party — and trust us, it’s going to be one to remember! All you need to do is keep the 5th of December free, we will share all the juicy details soon. All you need to know for now is this party will have immaculate vibes and be way better than your typical boring work Christmas do. Get ready to finally peel off your running lycra and struggle to recognise fellow Chasers out in the wild non-running world (yes, that actually exists)! Thank you Tom, Rach and Izzy for organising.
Race shoutouts:
Big well done to all Chaser who took part in the Chingford and Met League races. It was a great turnout from team Chasers. Including both Kat and Darren for finishing in the top 5 in the Chingford league.
Big well done to David Powers for completing another race and smashing another PB taking part in the Chicago 5k! David has been on a roll with the races and PB's this year, what a machine!
Congrats to Tilly for taking part in Munich half. This was Tilly’s 3rd fastest V50 time!
Congrats to Jamie, Kate, Tony, Nicholas, Nabil, Ursula, Beth, Connor and Jocelyn for completing the royal parks today. Great running from you all and great to see some shiny new PB’s.
Massive good luck to David, Susan, Anna, Liz, Nelson, Callum, Jonathon, Rafal for the Chicago marathon. We’re all routing for you and no doubt you’ll all smash it!!
Apologies if we've missed anyone or any races! If there is anything else you’ve got coming on please do put it on the chaser calendar. This will help you find other chasers who might be taking part and also give us a chance to give you a shoutout.
Have a great rest of the weekend.
