Club Handicap
Thanks to John Armstrong for organising another Club Handicap race at Highgate Woods yesterday. There was a great turnout and some super speedy Chasers pelting it round the Woods. Winners to be confirmed in the next newsletter
Big up to all the volunteers who gave up their time, it is most appreciated.
Summer League
After what feels like constant rain over the last few weeks it has started to feel like proper summer which means the best races of the year will be taking place. Clear your diaries, cancel your holidays the summer league is here! After a mid table finish for the last few years I am predicting big things from the Chasers this year. Big turnouts are great to pick up points as well as a good selection for the relays. Remember to bring any children for the mile race
The first fixture is in Headstone Manor on Sunday the 18th of June. The race starts at 9:30 and there will be a coach leaving Talacre to get you there on time. After the 5 mile race there will be a picnic, a kid’s race and relays. Sign up for the coach here
After Headstone Manor, we make the journey west to Perivale for another 5 miler on the 2nd of July. I really like this course except for the rank bit that goes past the dual carriageway. Other than that, it’s super-fast and a great opportunity to get a PB in this distance.
On the 9th of July we venture into deepest, darkest South London to Dulwich Park for 5 miles round super flat Dulwich Park.
There’s a couple of weeks break until the 30th July where we have our home fixture at Regent’s Park. Volunteers will be needed as well as any bakers so that we can show the runners of London who does the best picnic.
Finally on the 13th of August there is a 10k at Battersea Park.
Southern Athletics League
The first fixture of the season takes place tomorrow (Saturday 20th of May) in Hornchurch at midday. The deadline has already passed sadly but if you would like to join the next one please sign up before the 15th of June. The second fixture takes place at Hemel Hempstead and information is here
AGM
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday the 22nd of May at the Pineapple. For more information click here. All members are invited to attend and there will be a Thai buffet afterwards.
