Race Update   Well done to the strong Chaser contingent that represented at the Fred Hughes 10 last week. Fears of tricky conditions in the week leading up to the race weren’t realised on the day other than only a little bit of ice. There were a hatful of PB’s and some decent t shirts as well as a fantastic spread afterwards. The next race on the Chasers calendar is the Paddock Wood Half Marathon on the 12th of March. Once you have signed up please put your name down here so we can gauge numbers Regent’s Park 10k The next 10k race is happening on 5th February. Information and signs ups are here Leading Runs Each Tuesday from the Talacre at 7.15pm sharp an assortment of runs take place. Each of these runs will go at different distances and paces. Everyone can lead a run and it is encouraged once you have learned the routes. Why don’t you lead a run next Tuesday? Safety The evenings are getting brighter but it’s still pretty dark on the way to and from evening training sessions. It can feel unsafe especially coming back from the track on Thursdays. Why not make a friend and walk together home or to the nearest station? It is a great way to debrief after the session and defeat bad guys together. Epping Forest Race Report – Andy Davies 1st & 1st at Chingford League XC in Epping Forest - 21st January 2023 This weekend saw the league head over to Epping Forest, probably the hilliest event on the XC calendar. But this time it wasn’t just the mud and the 15% hills that were the problem, half the course was frozen solid! Going from thick sticky mud to frozen mud meant the course was extra challenging, and hurtling down those hills on frozen ground was honestly stupid at times, but still a lot of fun. But despite the challenges the Chasers put in some very strong performances with not 1 but 2 first places finishes; These wins were backed up by Andy Davies, Carmen Harrington and Elizabeth Aryeetey. The women remain 4th in the league, and the men are 7th. Orion Harriers put on a great race and there were even sandwiches and hot drinks available afterwards. The final Chingford League fixture is on the 4th February at Victoria Park - a 5 mile race that is fast and flat and completely ran on good paths, high PB potential. It is completely free to sign-up and anyone in the club can join the event, just head to the calendar on the website to sign-up, deadline is this Sunday (29th January).
