Happy New Year, I hope you had a great Christmas and got some decent running gear from Santa. Welcome to all the new members, why not introduce yourself on the Mornington Chasers Facebook Page? Regent’s Park 10k The next instalment of the Regent’s Park 10k is this Sunday! There are two spots for volunteers and there are places available to race. Nik is also looking for pacers on the day between 40 and 60 minutes. Get involved!   Soar women’s kit – Rebecca Taylor Hi Chaser women. I’m bringing SOAR size samples to club on Tuesday and Thursday if you want to try then buy. These are super lightweight and high tech vests which are basically best performing running vest you can get. At 44g it feels like you’re not wearing it when you run and fabric is sweat wicking to the maximum. Normally £65 we can get for £55 because, yes I do work for and head up SOAR women ๐Ÿ˜›. Would need 15 women to commit by mid Jan for early April delivery. They are made to order. If you can’t make this week let me know and I’ll see if I can bring to heath on the weekend or something else. Let me know if you have any questions ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’š Fred Hughes 10 The Fred Hughes 10 is always popular with Chasers and takes place Sunday January 22nd in St Albans. It is easy to get to by public transport but if you are driving please consider car pooling with other Chasers who might live near you and are also racing. Middlesex Cross Country The deadline to sign up to the Middlesex Championships at Parliament Hill is this Sunday. The race takes place on Saturday 21st January. Paddock Wood Half The designated Spring Half Marathon is the Paddock Wood Half Marathon in Kent. It’s a great race with plenty of PB potential. Sign up and info is here Track Everybody, yeah, rock your body yeah, everybody yeah, rock your body right, track is back, alright This week is a circuit pyramid as follows: 400m, 800m, 1600m, 800m, 400m (10mi) with 30sec exercises (squats, lunges, high knees, lunges, squats) followed by 90s recovery between each Sign up and info is here Cross Country Update - Juliette Westbrook It has been a busy, muddy (ish) and slightly too warm start to the cross country season for the club, where we have been competing in the Chingford League, Met League and other competitions so far this season. It started at the beginning of October with the first Chingford league fixture in Dagenham, a 5k Chingford league road race at the velopark followed by the first Met League fixture in Claybury. The fixtures continued to roll in thick and fast, with a mudless North London championships at Greenford, where more people were wearing sunglasses than not. The weekend saw double helpings of XC, with a Sunday league fixture at Trent park - part of the Herts Sunday league that we have entered for the first time this year! The week after, we went to Freynt park for the return of the North of the Thames championships, followed by another met league fixture in Wormwood scrubs (and another sunglasses XC!). We then had the London championships at our home venue Parliament hill, where 11 women and 4 men competed, with lots of chasers cheering us round the tough hilly and exhilarating course. This was followed by another Chingford league XC fixture at Trent park, organised by Rob Scott! A brilliant fixture, through forests, up and down hills, and we were even treated to a surprise river crossing. Following this, we were treated to the met league fixture at Uxbridge, renown a hill known as 'ski slope hill', and the famous river crossing, where crowds and photographers gather to watch runners fall in - this year it was optional, with most runners opting to go through the river. Cross country returns on Saturday the 14th January, where we will run our next met league fixture in Welyn Garden City, followed by a Sunday league fixture in Cassiobury or Royston on Sunday 15th - and these will be followed by multiple fixtures throughout January and February. Cross country is for everyone, and is amazing fun - keep an eye out on the Chaser Calendar/newsletter for sign up deadlines! A huge shoutout to all of the chasers who have competed so far this season, we have seen some really impressive performances.
