London Marathon
What a great day last Sunday was. Watching all you amazing Chasers zoom by first with smiles after 13 miles and with a grimace after 22. You all did really well and your efforts are a testament to your training, dedication and determination.
For me personally, it was fantastic to watch the event from the Chasers cheer spot. The atmosphere was incredible and the marathon really brings out the best in the city. Big shout out to Nick and Matt for setting up the spot and getting there super early. Shout out also to Tony who took really good photos on the day.
Also props to the Drinks Station Massive who did a sterling job before Tower Bridge
There was a real buzz of excitement this week for the London Marathon. I am looking forward to cheering as many of you on as possible next April. Good for age entries are currently live until today (Friday the 7th) at 5pm. The ballot entry is also closing tonight at 9pm. Entry to the ballot is completely free and is a prerequisite if you would like to apply for a club place. Further information on club places will be provided in due course.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the runner that did not cross the finish line.

Marathon Wisdom #12: There will be more, but run like there won't be
Many of you are probably very happy to let go of the need for marathon tips at the moment. Congratulations on conquering those 26.2 + x? miles by the way! But, some of you are still anxiously waiting for your moment of glory... and perhaps another tip or two. Hopefully none of you are as nuts as me, thinking you are going to run a 2nd marathon in the span of 7 days only to be redirected to lounging around in pajamas by the sly ole' Covid-19. Wherever you are in your running journey, whether it's race day or your next recovery run, it's important to set your intention for that run and then focus and re-focus on that intention through to the end. I do recommend that the intention NOT simply be a time goal, because sometimes things happen beyond our control to disrupt time goals. Instead your intention could be to cross the finish line knowing you gave it all you had or it could be to soak up as much joy from the crowds as possible. Whatever you decide, follow it through, knowing that the experience you're having is unique and wonderful (and probably a bit awful too); it's a once in a lifetime experience. Yes, you may run many more marathons, races, and/or easy runs in the future, but you'll only get one shot at that moment in time, so make it count.
