Sarah’s words of wisdom   Marathon tip #6: to drink or not to drink...the age old question Well, this tip had to come at some point...as the temps rise, what better way to relax with friends than to have a nice cold beer or glass of rose (rose all day, I say!) But, can or should you be drinking during marathon training?! How will it affect your training? Will that one glass lead to several and then a hangover when you have a session or a long run the next day? Will you get injured and then all of these other great tips you've been absorbing be for naught? It is certainly a very tricky question, and all I can do is lay down the facts for you: drinking raises the risk of dehydration, which can indeed affect your next run and risk causing injury. But, that doesn't mean you have to avoid alcohol all together. For some people, ensuring you are not drinking on an empty stomach and continuing to drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids will be sufficient. Some ibuprofen and extra electrolytes before bed won't necessarily hurt either! However every body is different, and for some, even one drink may feel like too big of a risk during marathon training. So, long tip short, you don't have to abstain from alcohol during marathon training, but be sensible. And for those that choose to abstain, you know what is best for you! And for everyone else, please mind your own business and don't pressure anyone to drink or not (that actually should be a life tip apart from training) There is no race report this week (sorry Nick, you will need to read something else on your next trip to Truffles Deli) , if you would like to write a report let me know Calendar Here's whats happening over the next few weeks other than our usual Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday runs. Marathon tip #6: to drink or not to drink...the age old question

Well, this tip had to come at some point...as the temps rise, what better way to relax with friends than to have a nice cold beer or glass of rose (rose all day, I say!) But, can or should you be drinking during marathon training?!

And for everyone else, please mind your own business and don't pressure anyone to drink or not (that actually should be a life tip apart from training)
