Recap from Hoka Event
Thanks again to Rebecca and everyone at Runner’s Need for organising a wonderful event on Thursday evening it was a great way to get the community together, be inspired and do something a bit different.
Here’s a summary from Rebecca,
Thanks so much to Steph Twell and Mhairi Maclennan for taking the time to take us through drills an talk to us about their lives as athletes and the people and passion that have kept them there. Very inspiring evening that focused on the benefits of community for running.
Also amazing to here about Mhairi‘s work with Kysniks advocacy, safeguarding and empowering women through sport.
Thanks to Joe at Hoka and Nick and the Runners Need team for the evening (and the nibbles).
As a special bonus there’s 20% off of full price Hoka for the next 2 weeks valid in the Camden Runners Need store!
Night of the 10,000 PB’s
The Glastonbury of 10k running is this Saturday the 14th. Entry is free and as well as a series of 10k races culminating in the UK Athletics Championships and World Championships Trials there is also entertainment from the likes of Spikey Will (Man of Danger). Looks like a great day and a brilliant opportunity to see top athletes at Parliament Hill Track (like you do every Thursday night to be honest).

Northala Fields Parkrun Run Report – Alex Renton
Last weekend I travelled to Ealing to run the Northala Fields Parkrun for the first time with Nicky Payne. You might have driven past the signature weird shaped hills driving from Heathrow. These hills I have been told were formed from the old Wembley Stadium. Luckily we did not have to run up them. Instead the course was a single lapper around said hills and through the adjacent park. The course was really flat and the paths were wide enough not to feel too crowded even at the start.
Buoyed by confidence of hitting a PB at the Vitality 10k the previous week I went off probably a bit too fast for me and felt myself losing focus after the first mile. As there were no hills on the route I didn’t slow too significantly and got myself round in an OK time. The course was really pretty and it was nice to have only one lap. I managed to keep Nicky in my sights for the first two miles but in her true style she zoomed off, probably keen to her hair done.
I would recommend the parkrun if you are ever in the area.
