The Big Chaser Kit Swap takes place this Saturday from 11:30 on the grass outside Parliament Hill Track. Bring any kit you no longer want. Re-home someone's kit. Please make sure kit is in good condition and clean. Any leftover kit will be donated to charity. Everyone welcome! If you don’t have kit to swap but need some please still pop along. Donate here
From now on, our popular Beginners course will be available only to members of the club. In other words, you'll need to become a full member of the club in order to gain access to our Beginners (0k to 5k) programme. Each Beginners course will still have maximum capacity of 20 runners, and you will still need to register for the course in advance and join the waitlist.
That waitlist is here - and this is the fairest way to record your interest in a first-come-first-served basis, as we're able to see your names in order of signing up. All details about this course are contained in this link including start dates. There are already 14 people on the waitlist for July.
One reason that our May 3k event was so successful is because we had some amazing volunteers officials to help out. Two of those were our very own club members, Robert Scott and Lizzy Muggeridge, but we also had to reach out to other clubs to be able to have enough. In the end, we unfortunately weren't able to have the results on Power of 10 because we weren't able to find a starter official. So with all of that in mind, we would love to get more people in the club to be trained up as officials, especially track judges, starters and timers. If you are interested in doing the training so you can help out at future events that we (and other clubs!) hold, please let Sarah Funderburk know. Costs for these courses are currently being subsidized by the Southern Athletics Leagues as we all need more officials!
We have one club place available for the London Marathon this October. If you are interested in applying, please send an e-mail to Jennifer.firstname.lastname@example.org by the end of Wednesday 2 June including the following information:
- Proof that you applied for a ballot place and were unsuccessful
- Confirming that you have been a member of the club for at least 12 months
- Involvement in the club (volunteering, marshalling, racing in club events etc.)
All applicants must be fully paid first claim club members and not have used a London Marathon club place in the last three years.
Rebecca Taylor is going to attempt a kit grab from the Talacre Centre on Friday ahead of our Kit Swap event on Saturday.
Please let Rebecca know if you would like her to collect a vest for you and what size you would like along with a copy of your PayPal receipt. We won't have everything in stock but what we don't have will be ordered as soon as possible.
