Cyber Parkrun and Summer League Finale This week we're holding a cyber parkrun - that's a 5K virtual time trial aimed at all of you who are missing your regular parkruns as well as newer runners who may be getting up to running 5K for the first time. You can run this over any route, any time before 17:00 on Sunday and then post your time here. Results in next week's newsletter. This is by way of a warm up to our big race of the summer, the final fixture of Summer League which is happening all next week. Adults (15 and over) should run a 10K race on the route of their choice, children (any you convince) should run a 1 mile race and everyone should run a 400m "relay" leg then post the results here. We've seen some big improvements over the race series already. We strongly recommend that you have a look at the results of the previous races to find who else is running at a similar pace to you so you can meet up and try to push yourselves to even better times. Even better if you can arrange to have a picnic afterwards to celebrate. We're currently in 4th place on the leaderboard - it would be great if we could sneak ahead of Queen's Park Harriers (last year's winning club) and make it onto the podium. The key will be getting children to race and for as many people as possible to run a relay leg. DIY Pub Night Pinch, punch, it's the first of the month. We've stopped our virtual pub nights now that the real pubs are open, but we can't organize a big pub night as a club. But why not get together with some of your fellow chasers in groups of 6 or less and enjoy a social drink together this evening? Vanguard Way A real race happened at the weekend - the Vanguard Way half marathon and marathon. 5 foolhardy Chasers braved the hilly marathon, and one wise Chaser did the half. Congratulations to all of them, and in particular to L45 category winner Rebecca Taylor. Cabbage Patch 10 Cancelled No-one was surprised to hear that the Cabbage Patch 10 has been cancelled. We'll need to find another club championship this year. The committee is on the case. Calendar Here's whats happening over the next few weeks other than our usual Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday runs.
