Virtual Summer League.
This year Summer League will be taking place virtually! This means that you have a week to run the required distance. Ideally you will record your run using a GPS watch, but if you don't have one, just do your best as this year's summer league is run on trust.
This week we’re looking for you to run a 10k, a 400m (for the relay) and to bake / have a picnic – photos required please!
We also need children to run in the Tenderfoot race. They need to run a mile and then 400m too. Nieces, nephews, children’s friends are all welcome to take part!
You can view and submit results for virtual races here.
Please social distance and be courteous to others. It may be hot, so you might want to think about running a loop so you can have water.
Group Runs Return.
The current government guidelines state that small groups of six or less are allowed to exercise together in public providing that socially distancing rules are adhered to. Some chasers have been enjoying the relatively new guidelines and are meeting up for socially distanced runs on Sundays at 09:00. For more information on what runs will be taking place this week please look on the Facebook page. You can also find more information on how the Chasers are responding to coronavirus here.
Parliament Hill Track Reopens.
Parliament Hill Track has now reopened. You must book before you go, even if you are a season ticket holder. You can book using this link.
To get a season ticket, email hampstead.heath@cityoflondon.gov.uk stating that you are a Mornington Chaser. They will then contact us to confirm your membership so you can receive a discount.
At present, there are no changing facilities, toilets or water available at the track. Please take your own water and follow social distancing guidelines while there.
New routes.
A number of new routes have been added to the Chaser website. You can view the routes here.
Structured Training.
With the ongoing easing of restrictions in relation to Covid19 and the reopening of the track at Parliament Hill the coaching team decided it would be a great idea to get some structure back to our club training. The plan is to suggest a couple of sessions a week that can be done in your own time with a gentle progression each week to allow for a safe and healthy return to training and full fitness.
On Tuesdays the sessions are based around your current 10m/HM pace with Thursday being more speed focused with the target pace range to be 5k/10k. Sessions are listed below and are all time based so provide access and benefit for all club members.
Tuesday (10m to HM) Thursday (5k-10k) Long Run
Week 1: 3 x 5mins [90s] 12 x 90s [2min] 70 min
Week 2: 3 x 6mins [75s] 8 x 2mins [2min] 75 min
Week 3: 2 x 10mins [75s] 6 x 3mins [2mins] 80 min
Week 4: 3 x 8mins [75s] 4 x 4mins [3mins] 85 min
Week 5: 3 x 10mins [75s] 3 x 6mins [4mins] 90 min
Please ensure that we continue to follow the government's guidelines on social distancing and above all stay safe.
Meet the Chasers.
This week we have been getting to know Chaser legends; John Armstrong, Eamon Byrne and Rebecca Taylor. Click the links to find out more about the running journeys of these three members.

New non-payment policy.
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, the Committee had been discussing how we address the ongoing and disappointing issue of individuals using the club benefits and activities whilst not paying their subs. Our club ethos is based on trust and respect and, for that reason, we have always tried to avoid the need for Tuesday or Thursday night registers. Of course we do have data on those who have paid and those who have not, and, sadly, we know that a number of individuals continue to participate in membership without paying membership fees. This is deeply unfair to paying members, and not in the spirit of our club values.
Our fees are good value (heavily subsidised by the revenue-generating activities of our volunteers) and we do offer an additional discount for hardship applications. As a volunteer Committee, we also work hard to make sure that all members get the best value for your subs.
So, effective immediately, and with respect to paying members, if you are found to be participating as a member without having paid your fees we will instigate a life-time expulsion from the club policy. Expelled members will not be able to rejoin.
Former members should contact Russ Hall at membership@chaser.me.uk to request permission if they intend to attend more than one run in a year, or if they intend to take part in subsidised club events. See our policy for full details.
Please if you've not paid your fees (that were due January 1st) then do so here.
