Mornington Chasers Newsletter
29 March 2020
Art Competition.
We are pleased to announce the inaugural Mornington Chasers Art Competition!
Please submit your best art works based on the theme of running or Mornington Chasers. Selected art work will be included on our Facebook and Instagram pages. The grand prize (the chance to have your artwork printed on a top of your size) will be judged by club captains Alex Renton, Rosie Dougherty and Rebecca Taylor and will be awarded on Tuesday 14th April.
Submission deadline is Sunday 12th April. Please send all entries to newsletter@chaser.me.uk for a chance to be included. Get those artistic juices flowing, we’re expecting great things.
Virtual Classes.
As all of our running sessions have been cancelled for the foreseeable future, we’ll be providing some online fitness sessions to keep us healthy, whilst staying safe.
Last week Nicola Heron lead our first virtual strength and conditioning session, and will lead another one this Thursday at 19:00.
Danielle Smreczak will lead our first Pilates session on Monday 29 March at 18:00
Keep your eyes on the Facebook group and the newsletter to see what else we’ll be offering in the coming weeks, all abilities welcome!
You can find more details on the sessions with links to join using our calendar (see below and also on the website). We recommend that everyone who might want to join in one of these sessions installs both Zoom and Microsoft Teams so that you are ready to join events hosted on either of these platforms.
Membership.
We have decided to extend all of this years memberships by an additional three months. The intention is to go some way towards compensating our members for the current lack of club runs and other club activities. Membership payments will next be due on the 1st April 2021.
Facebook.
We know that Facebook may not be everyone’s cup of tea, however there is a lot happening on our Facebook page at the moment as we have to rely on online communication. As always we will do our best to ensure everything gets into the newsletter, but it may be worth considering using Facebook during this period of social distancing; for example it’s probably the best way to give feedback on how you are finding our online sessions.
Running advice.
We’re all new to training while social distancing, but our coaches have been posting what we have learnt so far on our coaching blog.
Our welfare officer, Laurie Boult, and coaching coordinator, John Armstrong, have compiled some advice covering running etiquette, planning your runs and training while social distancing which you can read here.
Donal Moran, one of our coaching team, has put together some advice on training you can do during social distancing with a focus on strength and mobility. You can read Donal’s advice here.
