Race report: London City Relay
A few Chasers decided to escape the hot weather and take part in the London City Relay on Tuesday night. This is a 30 day non-stop relay through the heart of London by the Thames arranged in 5k or 10k legs. The event has a charity aspect, raising money for the Running Charity to help improve the lives of the 80,000+ young homeless people in the UK. It was a really great experience being able to run down the Thames with (minimal) tourists. A special mention goes to Lizzy Muggeridge, who has done 14 stages, including 9 10ks at very unsociable hours, and taking part in 9 marshal stints (4 of which were overnight!). We don't know how she has the energy to do all of this, well done Lizzy!
The event finishes on Sunday so if anyone fancies taking part check out the link below:

Essex Way
A Chasers team is entered into the Essex Way relay on 1 September. The relay starts in Epping, on the outskirts of London, and meanders its way through rural Essex trails, ending in the coastal port of Harwich. There are 10 stages of the relay, varying in length from 5 to 11 miles, more details available on the Essex Way website. If you are able to drive, then please let us know in the sign up, as we need at least 3 cars to transport people between stages. Please also state your preferred stage and Dave will do his best to accommodate everyone. This is always a popular event, so sign up early to secure your place. Link for sign up is in the calendar below.
Summer League
A big thanks to Dave for organising our home fixture of the Summer League at Regents park on Sunday. It was a record turnout! Thanks also to those who marshalled, provided food (especially Jenny and Anthony for organising the grub), to those who ran (we had an excellent turnout of Chasers, and well done to our recently graduated beginners who took part!), and to Sam for arranging another successful after-picnic.
The next and final Summer League fixture is at Battersea on 11 August.
Mornington Chasers Summer Picnic
The annual Chasers Summer Picnic will be held from 1pm Sunday 25th August (the bank holiday weekend). We’re going to set up camp next to the model boating lake and there will be food, drink, games and prizes. We’re encouraging members to bring some baked goods along and there will be a prize for the winning dish! And of course, there will be the return of the Chasers Picnic Planking competition.
The picnic was a well-attended event last year and a lot of fun for all so looking forward to seeing you all there.
The club will provide some drinks and nibbles but we’re encouraging members who want to bring along extra food and drink to do so. Picnic blankets are also welcome.
Kit
Currently we are out of some sizes of vest, but they are ordered, and we’ll let you know when they are in.
New members get a club vest included in the price of their initial membership. This can be picked up in person after Tuesday runs at Talacre. Please ask Fiona Carr or one of the club captains (the friendly folks that announce the runs at the start of our Tuesday sessions), or other committee member who can help.
Other Chasers kit is available for purchase in our store. You can buy additional vests, ladies crop tops and T-shirts.We also have triathlon suits, currently available for £55 (previously £90). All purchased items must be picked up on Tuesdays. We cannot deliver items.
Please show your paypal receipt (a screenshot is fine!) when picking up your items.
