Race report: Lakeland Trails in Staveley
A number of Chasers ventured up to the Lake District last weekend, for a weekend of running, eating and crosswords. On Saturday we took part in the very scenic and hilly lake trail races. We had Chasers compete at the 10K race (which was really 12K), the 18K challenge, and the 18K race. For all distances the trail climbed out from Staveley above the Kentmere valley, before returning along the valley itself past idyllic tarns and through ancient woodland. There were some Chasers with very speedy times (who clearly didn't stop to take photos on the way round). Stephen Fabes was 6th overall in the 18K race with a time of 1:13:52. In the 18K challenge, Bryan Goldsmith was 4th with a time of 1:26:05 and John Armstrong (less than a week after the London marathon) was 9th with a time of 1:28:51.
A big thank you to Dave Nelson for organising the weekend!
