A number of Chasers ventured up to the Lake District last weekend, for a weekend of running, eating and crosswords. On Saturday we took part in the very scenic and hilly lake trail races. We had Chasers compete at the 10K race (which was really 12K), the 18K challenge, and the 18K race. For all distances the trail climbed out from Staveley above the Kentmere valley, before returning along the valley itself past idyllic tarns and through ancient woodland. There were some Chasers with very speedy times (who clearly didn't stop to take photos on the way round). Stephen Fabes was 6th overall in the 18K race with a time of 1:13:52. In the 18K challenge, Bryan Goldsmith was 4th with a time of 1:26:05 and John Armstrong (less than a week after the London marathon) was 9th with a time of 1:28:51.
A big thank you to Dave Nelson for organising the weekend!
Our inaugural club handicap championship will take place in Highgate Wood on Thursday 16 May instead of the usual track session. It’s 3 laps of Highgate Woods, so about 3.5 miles. The winner will receive universal acclaim plus two tickets to see Bon Jovi at Wembley in June (kindly donated by Donal and Kana). Sign up using the link in the calendar below, and if you want to know how the handicap is calculated see John’s post here.
The next athletics fixture is Watford on 18th May. Sign up for events using the link in the calendar. All are welcome and it is a great opportunity to try a new event.
We now have men’s T-shirts in stock! They are available for purchase via the store. https://www.chaser.me.uk/news/store.php
If you need to pick up this or any other items you’ve ordered already please contact Fiona Carr. Payments must be made online via the store. Please show your receipt when picking up your purchases.
We are still awaiting the additional vest sizes, so apologies for the delays.
If you're taking part in any running event on a charity place, or are making the most of a Chaser event place by raising money for a good cause, then let us know and we'll promote your giving page in our newsletter.
