Pacers required for Regent's Park 10k Series
The first 10k race of the season is just over two weeks away. We are looking for pacers and photographers to make the experience a great one for those participating.
You do not need previous experience to pace (just choose a target time that is longer than your pb and a pace that is comfortable for you)- it would be great to have a range of times from 40-60 minutes.
If you are interested in taking photos (no fancy camera required), you can even combine it with marshalling duties.
Please email here if you are interested in helping out with pacing or taking photographs.
As usual, we'll also be looking for club members to marshal at these events which take place on the first Sunday of each month from October - March. These events are vital for the club as they enable us to fund Summer League, Cross Country, Southern Athletics League and to subsidise various other events throughout the year as well as keep our low membership fees.
I implore you to take heed of the following information:
If you volunteer at least once, you will get free entry to all of the other races. E.g. If you sign up to marshal the January race now, you can still run in the preceeding races free of charge.
You can sign up to volunteer via the calendar on the website. To claim your free race entries, sign in to your account and click 'enter 10k'. Once you have signed up to volunteer, you can then register for the races.
Thank you those of you who have already signed up to marshal!
See link below for more information
The first Met League race of the season will take at Claybury on the 13th of October. If you are planning on taking part in any Met League fixture between now and February, please sign up using this link. You can still show up on the day if you haven't signed up but it makes the admin side of it easier.
The Met League series is a lot of fun and suitable for all abilites. Claybury is a great course and a fantastic way to start the cross country season. Find out more information here.
Hi everyone. The club has 5 places reserved in the Cabbage Patch 10 mile race in Twickenham on 14 October. This is the Chasers club championship race and always has a big Chasers crowd in attendance. The places will be awarded, first to any new members or those racing for the first time with the club. Any remaining places will then be awarded on a first come first served basis. The race has been sold out for months, so this is likely to be your only chance to get yourself a place, the normal entry fee of £26.50 will still need to be paid. A final decision on who gets the places will be made in a few weeks time. To register your interest, leave a comment in the facebook post or contact Dave.
The club has 3 spare places in November's St Neots half marathon on 18th November. There are already over 30 Chasers signed up to take part in what is always a popular event in the club. There will also be a free return coach, leaving from the Talacre early morning of the race and returning once everyone is finished. We then usually reward ourselves with lunch and celebratory drinks somewhere in Kentish Town.
The club places are primarily for new members, so if you are new this year and would be interested in taking part then please contact Dave. The club has already paid for these places, so you will be asked to reimburse the entry fee of £26.50.
Hey, for the next couple of newsletters could you please add the following:
The Croydon Half Marathon will be the club’s official Half Marathon next Spring, being held on Sunday 31st of March.
The club will be part-funding entries for members who sign-up via the calendar on our website, click this link to do so before September 16th here
Tickets will then be made available via the club website for runners who have signed up, with the aim of bringing the entrance down from a reasonable £20 to £10. Do not sign up directly with the event.
This race will feature as the target race for the Spring Half Marathon Schedule, as well as forming part of the Spring Marathon Schedule, both starting in January, so will be a good race for all members to add to their calendar.
See calendar below for upcoming events.
We thought it would be good to get the tradition of post Tuesday run tea and juice firmly back on the cards. With this in mind, to give some help to the people who always find theselves the ones setting up the drinks or doing the washing up, we have created a Tea rota (please follow link). Even if you only do a couple of nights a year that will be a great help!
Here's whats happening over the next few weeks other than our usual Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday runs. You can find our full calendar on the website.
