Football is one step closer to home- Well done England! Stay tuned to find out if football does in fact come home. Race Report- Summer League Dulwich Park Sun cream was certainly the most valuable commodity on the day as blistering hot conditions meant some adjustments were needed to everyone's predicted times. First up was the 5 miler round the park and surrounding streets. Fiona Russell was first home for our ladies with Bruno Papadicci leading our men's team home. Special mention to Stephen West competing the day after his 1st ever half marathon. Next up was the Tenderfoot, where as has been the theme this year, our junior girls dominated! Allardyce, Watt, Byrne and Berry girls showing us all how it's done! Finally, for those that hadn't filled their faces too much on the fantastic Dulwich picnic, were the relays. The boys, with a new look team of Ben Bond, Will Watt, William Fulton and Bruno, ran the other teams close with a 4th place finish and the girls with Hope Sloly, Miriam Berry, Naomi Crowther and Fiona Carr battling hard for 5th place. To round up the days races were the B1 and B2 relays, where a mixture of youth and experience saw some great placings from our teams. The next Summer League fixture is our own race at Regents Park on 15th July. We are currently 4th in the league standings, it would be great to see as many of you as possible taking part, either at Regents Park or the final fixture at Battersea park in order to boost our standings. If you don't feel like running then you can always sign up to marshal at Regents Park. These events are open to everyone, regardless of abilities. Ask anyone who has taken part this year, or in the past, and they will tell you how great they are! Race Report North Downs (Dave Glencross) Sunday 24th July saw me, Eamon Byrne, Fiona Russell and John Armstrong do the 35th North Downs Run, a 30k trail race near Gravesend. It was a hot day and a tough course, but the marshalling was excellent and there were plenty of aid stations. It was my first long trail race and it was a lot of fun - beautiful scenery with a lot of climbing, and a really great atmosphere overall. One guy went down with cramp at the 29.9km, but half an hour later (and after some medical attention) managed to complete the final 100m to cheers. I will definitely do this race again next year and highly recommend it. Volunteer of the Month June's volunteer of the month is Dave Nelson. A very big thank you to Dave for all that he does for the Chasers, this particular recognition for his contribution to the Summer league fixtures. You might see Dave shortly wearing his brand new chasers hoody and think, how can I look that good? If you do find yourself in this situation, then start signing up to help out at some events, a bit of marshalling or even helping organising some events and July's hoody could be yours! Tea Rota We thought it would be good to get the tradition of post Tuesday run tea and juice firmly back on the cards. With this in mind, to give some help to the people who always find theselves the ones setting up the drinks or doing the washing up, we have created a Tea rota (please follow link). Even if you only do a couple of nights a year that will be a great help! Upcoming Events See below calender for a list of upcoming events.
