Upcoming Events
Summer League Perivale (3rd June)
This is the first Summer League meeting of the year. The main event is a 5 mile race taking place in Perivale Park, Ealing. There are also kids races and relays after the main event. Free coach travel has been organised to and from the event (leaving from Talacre), however there are limited spaces for this (as at time of sending this out we have 13 places left). To reserve yourself a place on the coach, which will set off at 8am, please sign up from the link on the calendar.
This is open to all chasers that turn up on the day and everyone has the chance to score points for the club, so it would be great to turn up in record numbers and put some pressure on the other big clubs around us.
I am reliably informed that the course is flat so there is a good opportunity for some fast times.
The next Summer League event after Perivale will be Headstone Manor on Sunday 17th June.
Sri Chinmoy 5K series in Battersea (11 June)
The first race in this summer series will be on Monday 11 June, please see the link for more information. The Battersea course is very flat and a great place to get a fast time so if you are wanting to get an early Summer PB under your belt then this will be a great one.
Thunder Run
We have 1, possibly 2 spare spaces in the Chasers team at this year's Thunder run on 21-22 July. The thunder run is a 24 hour relay race that takes place in the Midlands on a beautiful off road 10k route. There's camping, food, beers and an all round great atmosphere. We have a mixed team of 5 entered and places are available for runners of all abilities. I can't recommend this event highly enough, if you are interested or want more details then please get in touch with Dave Nelson.
Parliment Hill Athletics
This will be on home soil and so all Chasers are encouraged to get involved in this. Please see link below to sign up.
Race Report The Avenue of The Giants (Peter Torre)
My fellow Chasers, For the 12th consecutive year I ran at the above event, truly the best of all the runs that I have participated in over the years, go to The Avenue of The Giants Marathon and see why.
I gave myself a realistic time of 1.10.00 and finished in 1.09, 58 whew !!!, plus was first home within my age division ( out of two - Shhh !! )
It is always worth the long journey over The Pond plus the side trip to Las Vegas home bound and the 100 + % weather.
Please also remember that this coming Tuesday (5th June) is Pub night.
