AGM Report
Many thanks to everyone who attended the club AGM at the Grafton. You can read the full chair’s report and minutes online but probably the most important item is that we’ve got four new club captains for the year:
Christina Akingbola (aka Lola) who is also our new Kit Secretary.
Sam Blackburn who is also our new Social Secretary
Fiona Carr who is also our new Welfare Officer
Craig Johnston who is also our new Newsletter editor.
You can see names and photos for the full committee on our who’s who page.
Cross Country Championships
The London Cross Country Championships took place on Saturday at Parliament Hill. The race began up a steep hill lined with spectators which prevented runners from stopping for a breather in the first few metres. Next came the descent which had been turned into a mud bath by the rain and children's races that had taken place in the morning, guaranteed to turn you from a heel to forefoot striker in only a few steps. The rest of the course was a mixture of undulations, burrows and a few more mud pools. Definitely one of the best cross country races so far this year. Well done to everyone who took part especially Jenny for trying out cross country for the first time and Richard who didn't let the loss of the sole of his shoe stop him from running!
St Neots Half Marathon
A big well done to everyone that took part in yesterday's race. Special mention goes to the ladies, who took the 1st team prize! There were also quite a few PB's in there as well as some very fast times, so overall a great day for the club. Please see below for race results.
Race report from the Portland Marathon (by Peter Torre)
Having just returned from my usual annual trip to the Portland Marathon where I assisted with announcing at the finish line with the names etc. appearing on the computer (not sure if the Americans understood my English accent !!), it was a new experience for me, Regents Park was never like this, and good fun as always.
The next weekend I ran in the 10km race at beautiful South Lake Tahoe and was the first one home from the UK!
My next intended US run, hopefully, will be in early May, 10km race at The Avenue of the Giants, Northern California, first Sunday in May, anyone wishing to join me you are most welcome - think about it!
Upcoming Events
Christmas Party
Ho Ho Ho, the festive season is almost upon us and what better way to welcome in December than the Chasers Christmas Party on Friday 1st December at the Gypsy Queen. For those who have not yet booked tickets, don't panic, there is still time!
Go to this link to pick up your ticket>>>http://15o9.mj.am/link/15o9/xsvrto8u/a4/D-mBNgXK3HC9qGg5DimWnw/aHR0cDovL3d3dy5jaGFzZXIubWUudWsvbmV3cy9idXkucGhwP2lkPTQ3
We are very happy to announce that after discussions around price, the Committee have decided to further subsidise this year's festive fun and so tickets, which were previously £16, have now been reduced to £10. So please take full advantage of this Christmas gift and sign up soon.
XC race this Saturday- Trent Park
The Fraternity and Sorority Cup, hosted by Barnet & District AC, takes place this Saturday at 2.30pm in Trent Park. The start line is a five minute walk from Cockfosters station. It's a five mile race in a beautiful park and men and women run at the same time which is unusual in cross country. There is no need to sign up beforehand, just turn up on the day- the event is suitable for all abilities and there is no fee. It would be great to see a substantial group of Chasers there (there were 75 Serpies at last Saturday's XC). Even if you don't run, you will still be entitled to cake if you come to cheer.
MCRP10K- Marshals Required
Thank you to all that have marshaled so far as well as those signed up to marshal at the upcoming races. We still need a few more marshals for the remaining events. Remember you get free entry to all of the races by marshalling at one race. Sign up to marshal here.
