Essex Way Relay- 3rd September
The popular Essex Way takes place this year on 3 September and we are hoping to enter a team (or ideally, two) again for the 3rd year running. The event is a day long 10 person relay, mainly on offroad paths from Epping to Harwich on the coast of Essex. Legs range from around 5-10 miles with all legs showing off the lesser known beauty of Essex (no white stilletos or souped-up Corsas in sight).
The event is suitable for runners of any ability and comes with the added bonus of fish and chips on the seafront after finishing. Further information can be found here. We will need at least 3 drivers on the day so please indicate on sign up if you have a car available or have a zip car membership. Sign up here.
Race Report: Triffic Trail 10km (Trent Park) 25/06/17
Only a couple of days after the recent heatwave, Sunday morning was a more pleasant 20+ degrees and saw over 500 runners assemble for this undulating 10km race on the trails and footpaths of leafy Trent Park in Cockfosters. Having only recently joined the Chasers, it was my 1st race in club colours and looks like I was the only Chaser taking part - a shame I think, given it's fairly local... The goody-bag included a technical tee-shirt, 2 cans of fizzy energy drinks, 2 packets of crisps, and a cereal bar. Freshly cut water-melon was available at the finish! My chip time was 54:00, putting me in 217th (though that is gun-time placing) - slower than I would've liked, but it is peak hayfever season and I've had a hamstring niggle lately; still, 16 seconds faster than last year!- Greg
Summer League
About thirty Chasers made their way to Dulwich yesterday to take part in the only 5 mile race of the series. A fantastic distance coupled with temperatures which were unlikely to cause heatstroke made for nice racing conditions. Well done to Myles and Lauren for being first male and female Chasers finishers respectively. There were also impressive performances from the relay teams and from Miriam, Benji and Joe who took part in the tenderfoot races.
We still need some volunteers to marshal the Regents Park Summer League race on the 16th of July. Those of us who have run the previous races in the series know that a lack of marshals can lead to a runner adding an extra mile to their race. Although some strong willed people can handle this, we want the event to be a safe and enjoyable one for everybody. Sign up to marshal here.
Pub Night tomorrow
Tomorrow night (Tuesday) is pub night. Tables have been booked at Tapping the Admiral from 8.30pm.
