Spring marathon fundraising
As with last year, the club will be making a donation to the charities that members are fundraising for in the spring marathon season. Please let us know what charity you will be running for and in which race. We will also include your name and charity webpage in the newsletter to help with your fundraising efforts.
As part of this support the club is also designating our March MCRP10K race as a costume training run. So if you plan to run in a costume in your fund raising efforts this is the ideal opportunity to test out the fit and feel of running in costume. Even if you are not please let your charity know so that they can spread the word to anyone that is running in costume.
For the March MCRP10K race we will also be partnering with Autistica, a charity which both funds and campaigns for medical research into autism, as part of their build up to World Autism Awareness Month. They will be sharing details of the race with their friends and supporters and are suggesting a superhero dress code https://www.autistica.org.uk/event/2017-regents-park-10k/ . If you would be interested in raising money for Autistica for this or your marathon run contact Charlotte Bignall at Charlotte.Bignall@autistica.org.uk
Coached sessions this week
Avril will be coaching tomorrow at Primrose Hill. The session will begin with warm up drills and then 2 x (5, 4, 3, 2 mins) at threshold pace with reducing recoveries (50, 40, 30, 20secs) and 2 mins between sets. This is good for endurance and maintaining consistent pace.
Thursday’s session will take place at Parliament Hill Track. Details will be posted on the facebook page later in the week.
Volunteers needed for beginners programme
We need volunteers to help with the beginners running programme in February and March. We rely on volunteers to run the sessions, so if you can spare one or two Tuesdays this is a great way to give something back to the club. No experience is necessary, just a friendly smile and some warm words of encouragement - please speak to Stephen Nash or Nicola Heron to find out more (or email beginners@chaser.me.uk).
Brick training session
The monthly brick training session will take place this Saturday (4th Feb), meeting at 9am at Regent’s Park track. If you’re new to multi-sport, a brick session involves some cycling followed straight away by a bit of running. These sessions are open to ALL abilities – all you need is a bike and your running kit. There will be someone available to watch over your belongings while you train.
Volunteer Photographer and Marshals needed -MCRP10K
We need two more marshals and a photographer for next Sunday’s (5th Feb) race. Ben took photos of each runner at the last few races which proved to be popular with those taking part. Sign up to volunteer here.
