To mark the club’s 30th Anniversary Gerry Naughton, the clubs founder member, presented Andrea Sanders-Reece with a Lifetime Achievements award at the Mornington Chasers Regent’s Park 10k race on Sunday.
It was a cold crisp morning but it did nothing to detract from a great day out. Thanks to all the volunteers and pacers and to Abigail and Ben for taking some great shots of the runners which are linked to the results page.
More volunteers are needed to marshal the next three races in our winter series. These races are essential to help keep our membership fees low and provide the many benefits that we all enjoy. You also get free entry to the other races in the series. Check the club calendar for dates of the next races.
Talacre Sports Centre will be closed from 19th Dec to the 3rd Jan. Our last training week will be w/c 12th Dec and we will recommence on the 3rd of January. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for any runs organised by individuals or post your own run and someone might join you. Check out the 30 routes from Talacre if you’re stuck for ideas. https://www.chaser.me.uk/routes/routes.php
There will be no track session at Parliament Hill Athletics Track on Thursday, December 22nd and Thursday, December 29th. Urban recommends to those who want to train on those days to do a fartlek session around Regent’s Park
Who wouldn't love a race which starts with a Snoop Dogg concert in a car park and was won by a guy in an Elvis costume?! The Vegas Strip at Night marathon was a fun, don't-take-it-too-seriously run taking in all the sights on the Vegas Strip, along with downtown and some less glamorous industrial areas, too. Starting at 4.30pm, the tricky thing was getting the race day fuelling right (I didn't) and trying to get selfies of the sunset (I did.) A great experience and a wonderful way to meet and chat to runners from all over the world (82 countries, to be exact.) The Rock n Roll series are a bit of a spectacle, but always fun nonetheless.- Suzanne Janes
Don’t forget its pub night on Tuesday. Emma has booked tables at Tapping the Admiral from 8.30pm. Nelson looks forward to seeing you all.
The cereal-box championship at the Christmas after-party was this year won by Charlotte Lund with a breath-taking display of flexibility. Last year’s winner, Lauren Longhurst, reacted to defeat with notably poor grace. Meanwhile, Nick Burton took home the men’s prize in a closely fought competition, benefitting ultimately from Dan Hedley’s continuous drinking and Dave Glencross’s pulled muscle. John Armstrong (in a manner most lithe) lead the field in the particularly lacklustre V40 category.
