We need one more volunteer to marshal at the next Regent’s Park 10K race on 4th December. You can sign up through the calendar on the website and benefit from free entry to the remaining races in the series.
At the last Regent’s Park 10K Ben Barker took photographs of all the runners which were made available to the runners free of charge. The event got such good feedback from this that we would like to be able to provide this service for the rest of the series. Ben unfortunately can’t do this for all the races so we are asking if there are any photographers or budding photographers in the club who would be willing to take photographs specifically for the race on 4th December. Ben has offered to lend his camera and will use his software to link them to the runners. Please contact Rob Mitchell on robmitch@jayadog.com if you can help out.
Tomorrow's coached session, led by Andrea, is a return to circuits with a mix of activities that include core, jumping, running fast and running at threshold. Warm-up drills and stretches plus easy run to and from Hampstead Heath included. All good for helping (together with the alternate week of hills) build a good base for events in 2017.
Thursday’s session will be at Parliament Hill track. Details will be posted on the Mornington Chasers Facebook page in advance for anyone unable to attend.
Whilst taking the athletes pledge at the start line, I realised: this was it! All these months of training and I'm here in Marathon!
The route was initially quiet, flanked by mountains and greenery but soon crowds lined the streets, chanting "Bravo" and "Pame", with children giving high-fives! There's something about such a crowd that helps you complete 12 miles of uphill running and STILL speed up for the last few kilometres! It felt like the whole city was out there for you!
The Panathenaikon Stadium finish was amazing; the conquering heroes returned to cheers and music! And I got some new bling for my efforts.
