Spooky Run III On Tuesday night there will be a head-torch run across Hampstead Heath to celebrate Halloween. Bring a head torch if you have one - we will have a few spare, but beginners and people turning up for the first time will have priority for those. Scary outfits recommended, if you don’t have one, make do with black lipstick or just a sinister demeanour.  It will be utterly terrifying, so we will head to Tapping the Admiral afterwards for a pint to calm our nerves.  Spooky Run Pub Night We’ll be heading to Tapping the Admiral after Spooky Run this Tuesday for pies and pints. The only thing you’ll find scary about this is that sometimes they run out of pies. Get your order in quick. As usual, tables are booked from 20:30 onwards. Hope you can all make it. 10K Club Championship Don’t forget, this Sunday 6th November is the club’s 10K club championship at Regent’s Park. If you have marshalled or signed up to marshal then you can run the race for free. Marshalling spots are still available for January, February and March. Annual General Meeting The club's Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 14 November at 7pm at The Grafton pub, just down the road from the Talacre. Please come! This is your chance to discuss the direction of the club. And there will be snacks! A new committee will be voted in to take up their posts in 2017. The committee welcomes new members - a list of the roles can be found on this page.  If you are interested in standing for any of the roles, please email Alice before the AGM. If you would like to discuss the roles with the current incumbents, please see the “Who’s who” on the website.  London Cross Country Championships deadline A reminder that the London Cross Country Championships will be held on the 19 November 2016 at Parliament Hill Fields, Hampstead Heath. DEADLINE FOR ENTRY - 01/11/2016 so go and sign up, get your spikes and start baking... Full details on the link above. St Neots Half Marathon: Travel If you’re running St Neots Half Marathon on 20th November there’s no need to worry about travel. A coach has been booked to take us to and from the race. Pick up is at 7am from Talacre and we will be returning between 12.30-13.30. It’s free, but could you please sign up here.    You will need to sign up by Tuesday 1st November as numbers will need to be confirmed with the coach company.  Christmas Party Time to get out of your lycra and into your dancing shoes. Our Christmas party will be held at The Grafton on 2nd December. There will be music, food, beverages, an elaborately-designed cake, and prizes. Tickets on sale now here.  We need music! If any of you are interested in putting together a playlist, please e-mail me and tell me how long your playlist is. You don’t have to create a playlist for the whole night! 30 minutes to an hour would be great. You will need to download the playlist onto your phone or laptop, which we can connect to the speakers at the Grafton. If we get enough volunteers, there will be a prize for the best set.  MCRP10K Long Sleeve Tech T-Shirt A Long Sleeved Tech T-Shirt has been produced for our Regent’s Park 10k Series.  If club members would like to buy one it is available through the website store for £15. Thursday Training It is now official that we meet on Thursdays at Parliament Hill Track itself at 7:30pm rather than at Talacre. This just means that we will no longer guarantee to have anyone at Talacre at 7:15 to show people the way. The website has been changed to reflect this. Coached sessions this week Tuesday's coached session will be led by Andrea.  This will be a hill session at Primrose Hill, starting from Talacre.  The session includes a mix of technique, threshold (for endurance) and hard hills (for strength). Between now and the end of the year Tuesday sessions alternate between hills and circuits to build a strong base for all events in 2017. Tuesday coaching is aimed at all levels and sessions are usually based on 'effort'. Thursday’s session will be at Parliament Hill track, led by Chris.  Details will be posted on the Mornington Chasers Facebook page in advance for anyone unable to attend.  Thursday’s sessions can also be found here.  Race Reports If you have something to say about a race you’ve run or can recommend any upcoming races, please email newsletter@chaser.me.uk.  Jekyll and Hyde Park Duathlon, 30 October The spookily misty start to Sunday saw the final event in the London Triathlon League, the Jekyll and Hyde Park Duathlon. Three members from Mornington Chasers made it to race - Jonno, Gareth and Andrea with Avril marshalling. The course was different from usual with even tighter dead turns and a couple of extra loops making for challenging race conditions on the cycling section. The weather was perfect for running with barely a breath of wind. It is great to have a duathlon in central London which is easily accessible and the Hallowe'en fancy dress costumes added to the fun.
