30 August 2016

Track/field official qualifications If you’re interested in becoming a qualified track or field official you can check out upcoming courses on the England Athletics website – there are courses coming up very soon on 11 September and 9 October. If you are willing to commit to volunteering at next season’s Southern Athletics League and any other track events the club may participate in or organise, then the club may consider paying for the course (plus travel expenses).  Please email Lizzy ASAP if you’re interested (the postal deadline for the first dates is this Friday!).  Chase The Pace The club celebrated its 30th birthday in style at Chase the Pace at Parliament Hill Track. There were a host of stellar performances and personal bests, including a colossal 8 new club records! Perhaps we were inspired to greatness by the presence of former 10000m world record holder David Bedford who put in a surprise guest appearance. Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to making this such a fabulous event: Seb and Emma for organizing; Martin and Graham from Highgate Harriers for timekeeping and marksmanship; John Lynch and Amy Koerbel for judging the bake-off; a host of former Chasers who came from far afield to celebrate and take part; too many others to mention. Happy Birthday Mornington Chasers!  There are lots of photos on the club Facebook group and also Ben’s on Flickr.  New Club Records Nicola Timmins FV35 5000m (track) 19:28.3 Emily Dydymska FV45 5000m (track) 28:42.3 Diane Morrison FV45 10000m (track) 53:16.6 Stephen Nash MV40 1 mile (track) 4:59.4 Mansour Radjabi MV50 1 mile (track) 6:26.5 John Lynch MV60 1mile (track) 6:10.2 John Lynch MV60 5000m (track) 20:05.1 John Armstrong MV40 10000m (track) 37:46.8 Bake Off 1.= Nicola Heron (peanut butter cookies) 1.= Nicola Timmins (Almond and Elderflower fairy cakes) Sack Race 1.
