Summer League 24th July
Our summer League fixture takes place this coming Sunday at Regent’s Park. Arrive early at The Hub for a 9am start. The whole family is welcome and there are races for the younger ones too. It is FREE to enter and food is provided (disclaimer, see below!)
If you are running please consider bringing sandwiches/cake/other savoury items (there is a discussion on the Facebook page if you are unsure what to bring). If you are not running please consider helping in another way and contact Danielle Smreczak.
Food prep expenses can be claimed back from the club if you keep your receipts and all help is appreciated.
Following the races we will be having our 30th Anniversary party, where we will eat yet more cake and drink fizz! See you there!
Your club needs you!
You may have noticed that we’ve changed how Thursday sessions work this year. Our Thursday training plan has been designed by professional coach Urban Bettag. However, we rely on volunteers to lead most of the sessions. The club is keen to promote as much volunteer coaching as possible. Our aims are:
To increase the depth of knowledge about running at all levels within the club.
To give as many people as possible the chance to enjoy the benefits of volunteering.
To give ill and injured athletes a way to continue to contribute to the club as they recover.
To develop a large team of coaches and run leaders to ensure the long term success of the club.
If you are interested in volunteering to help out please contact Adrian Cathersides. It would make a big difference to have a few more people involved. Adrian would love to hear from you, even if you can only help out very occasionally, so it doesn’t have to be a big commitment. You don’t have to be fast or have any special expertise to help out, and we’d love to see all paces, shapes, sizes, sexes and ages represented. The club will normally pay for an (optional) run leader course and if you wish to take it further, a coaching course. But you don’t need to take a course to get involved! See our pages on volunteering for more information.
Coached sessions this week
Tuesday night’s coached session will be led by Andrea. Thursday’s session will be at Parliament Hill track. Details will be posted on the Mornington Chasers Facebook page in advance for anyone unable to attend – Thursday’s sessions can also be found here.
