Mornington Chasers Newsletter

6 June 2016

Summer League this Sunday The first fixture in the Summer League takes place this Sunday, 12 June at Headstone Manor.  This is a free (for club members) 10K race and we need as many Chasers as possible to run and earn us points in the league.  ALL abilities welcome!  Prizegiving for the 2015 league will also take place.  Details can be found here.  Summer League volunteers needed We will be hosting the Summer League at Regent’s Park on 24 July and as it’s the club’s 30th anniversary this year we’d like to make it a big one.  We’re looking for people to marshal on the day but also volunteers to help in advance.  We need help with making sandwiches and baking cakes and if you’re into arts and crafts we’d love it if anyone could make some Chasers bunting and the like!  If you can help, reply to this newsletter and I’ll pass on your details to the relevant person.  Thursday night volunteers needed If you are interested in getting involved in leading or helping to deliver sessions on Thursdays, please contact Adrian Cathersides. Even if you can only help occasionally, it would be great to have your name on the list of volunteers. You don’t need a qualification to do this, but if you do want to gain a coaching qualification, the club can help. Brick training session The monthly brick training session will take place this Saturday (11th June), meeting at 9am at Regent’s Park track.  If you’re new to multi-sport, a brick session involves some cycling followed straight away by a bit of running.  These sessions are open to ALL abilities – all you need is a bike and your running kit.  There will be someone available to watch over your belongings while you train.  Pub night It’s the monthly pub night tomorrow (7 June) after Tuesday’s training runs – grab the pie & pint deal at Tapping The Admiral from 8:30pm. Runner’s World article The Runner’s World article on the 8 most improved runners in the UK featuring our very own Lizzy Muggeridge is now online here – Alice.  Spring marathon fundraising The club has made a donation of £500 across the 15 charities that club members supported over the spring marathon season.  Their websites are still open to receive donations should members wish to make their own donation. They are as follows; Amy Hadley NSPCC Chris Zair Mental Health Foundation Donna Laycock Marie Curie Ian Girling Mayhew Animal Home John Armstrong Macular Society John Mehrzad SportsAid Lizzy Muggeridge Against Breast Cancer (generic site) Lola (Christiana) Akingbola Macmillan Cancer Support Louise Dwyer Family Holiday Association Mansour Radjabi Kisses 4 Kids Matt Brownlee The Disabilities Trust Sam Blackburn Macmillan Cancer Support Sara Prisco Autism Initiatives UK Tina Allardyce Alzheimer's Society Vicky Hilton Leonard Cheshire Disability Coached sessions this week Due to absence tomorrow, Avril will post the details for Tuesday’s session on Facebook later today.  The Thursday session will be at Parliament Hill track and will be led at the track by Urban & Chris.  Calendar Here's whats happening over the next few weeks other than our usual Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday runs.
