If you are interested in getting involved in leading or helping to deliver sessions on Thursdays, please contact Adrian Cathersides. Even if you can only help occasionally, it would be great to have your name on the list of volunteers. You don’t need a qualification to do this, but if you do want to gain a coaching qualification, the club can help.
The monthly brick training session will take place this Saturday (7th May), meeting at 9am at Regent’s Park track. If you’re new to multi-sport, a brick session involves some cycling followed straight away by a bit of running. These sessions are open to ALL abilities – all you need is a bike and your running kit. There will be someone available to watch over your belongings while you train. Please note these are usually held on the second Saturday of the month but we’re swapping this month due to the Crystal Palace Triathlon.
The London Marathon ballot opens on 2 May. It’s only open for five days, so get your entry in now! Remember to keep a record of your application. You will need this if you are unsuccessful in the ballot and want to apply for one of our club places later in the year.
If you’d like your fundraising to be included in the newsletter, please email the details to newsletter@chaser.me.uk before 15 May. If you do then not only will you be advertising to a whole load of potential sponsors in your fellow clubmates, the club itself may also consider making a donation to your chosen charity.
Sara Prisco will be running the Edinburgh Marathon for Autism Initiative UK. She chose the charity to show her support to her best friend's little kid. Sponsor her here.
Check out the latest issue of Runner's World (June 2016) for an inspiring feature on the UK's most improved runners, featuring our very own Lizzy Muggeridge.
Tomorrow is our monthly pub night – details should hopefully be posted on the Facebook page in advance.
Tuesday’s session this week will be the ever popular mile time trial, led by Andrea. Thursday’s session will be led by Avril. Details will be posted on the Mornington Chasers Facebook page in advance for anyone unable to attend.
If you have something to say about a race you’ve run or can recommend any upcoming races, please email newsletter@chaser.me.uk.
Serpentine 5K, 29 April
After a year off nursing a knee injury won the V80 category in the Serpentine 5k on Friday. Not difficult because I was the only one in the category. Took it very easy . Time 36.38 but got to the end uninjured. - John H Grigg
