CLUB WINTER SERIES 10K IN REGENT'S PARK
Members are needed to marshal the next two races in our winter series on 7 February and 6 March. These races are essential to help keep our membership fees low and provide the many benefits that we all enjoy. And if you need an extra incentive above the warm feeling that volunteering and cheering the runners provides, you also get free entry to one of the races. Marshalling is just one of the many ways you can be involved with the club. You can now sign up and see how many marshalls are still needed for each month on the website at http://www.chaser.me.uk/news/calendar.php

BRICK SESSION DATES
The first monthly brick session (bike and run) will take place on Saturday 16 Janaury 9am at Regent's Park track with Jono and Andrea. Everyone is welcome to try this out, particularly those new to multi-sport or who would like to practice in a supportive environment. Essential items: a bike, helmet, bike shoes (if you have them), running shoes, water. Your bike will be watched while you run but please avoid bringing other valuables. This first session concentrates on smooth transitions (including practice), safety on the bike, triathlon/duathlon rules about drafting/non-drafting etc and any questions you may have. The practice will include 2-4 laps of Regent's Park on your bike + 4 laps of the Regent's Park track on your feet. Future dates are planned as follows:

13 February
12 March
9 April
14 May

CROSS COUNTRY
The next date in the Met League is this Saturday 16 January at Horsenden Hill, details at http://www.metleague.co.uk/fixtures.html#fixture4

Aged over 35 and love cross country?
The Veterans Athletics Club (VAC) XC Championships is on 21 January at 14:30 on Wimbledon Common (SW19 4UL) and guest runners / athletes over the age of 35 are welcome. The cost to non VAC members is £5 and registration is at the start. Refreshments, social gathering and awards take place at Belgrave Hall (Belgrave Harriers club house) after the event.
VAC is our regional masters club for members over the age of 35. In order to get affiliation to and participate in British Masters events (road, athletics and XC) members need to be a member of a regional masters club. This event is a great opportunity to meet other members of the club and experience a different cross country. For more details: http://www.vac.org.uk

RACE RESULTS
To include your results in the newsletter please email newsletter@chaser.me.uk with the details. A brief description of what you thought of the race and if you would recommend it to others would be great too, but not essential. There is no need to send results from Club races such as Summer League, Southern Athletics League and Start Fitness Metropolitan Cross Country League as these are gathered by the team captains/event managers.

You can now also see a selection of results on the website at https://www.chaser.me.uk/news/results.php

Velopark Duathlon, 10 January
2 mile run + 10 mile cycle + 1 mile run
"The first of the year of this super series of increasingly popular duathlons at the Olympic Velopark sold out quickly. Conditions today were very cold and windy making the course, particularly on the bike, very challenging. I discovered the hard way that wearing two pairs of gloves was not helpful during transitions though I imagine numb fingers would also have struggled to pull on shoes. However, on the plus side and very surprisingly considering recent form and above errors, I was faster than the equivalent race last January."
Andrea Sanders-Reece 16:11 (inc T1) + 34:58 (inc T2) + 7:34 = 58:43 (Gold, W50)
