Everyone who attended the club BBQ was treated to a real feast washed down with a mix of drinks from wine and Prosecco to beers and gin & tonic! Thank you to everyone who helped and contributed food and equipment to make it a success and in particular to Seb and Avril. Even the weather managed to remain dry. Our next party is for Christmas, Friday 4 December. Please visit the club website events page for details and to sign up.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
This year our club championship race is being held on the first Sunday in November (ie 1 November) at the Mornington Chasers Regent’s Park 10K. When you register, please include that you are a member of Mornington Chasers so that you are included in the championships results. Details, as always available in the events section www.chaser.me.uk/calendar If you are injured or recovering from another race, please consider volunteering as a marshall so that you can still be part of the day.
CLUB WINTER SERIES 10K in The Regent’s Park
This series of races in The Regent’s Park organised by Nice Work using our branding is our main source of funding for the club. Please volunteer to marshal at least one race per year, October to March. When you volunteer you also get free entry to another race in the series. Avril is gathering a list of volunteers or sign-up on the club website.
VELOPARK RELAYS
Greenwich Tritons are organising a team sprint duathlon relay race at the Velopark, 15 October. Four people per team, either all male, all female or two of each. It would be great if we could get a couple of teams together. We already have a strong base for one team in Jonathan Thomson and Gareth Jones. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience and enjoy this brilliant venue and be part of a club team. In the first instance please contact newsletter@chaser.me.uk we also need someone to captain this event. For details: http://www.entrycentral.com/Greenwich-team-relay-duathlon
THIS WEEK’S COACHED SESSIONS:
Tuesday with Andrea at Primrose Hill 5/10K/HM focus suitable for all levels.
Thursday with Andrea at the track (pyramid session).
The session details are usually posted on our Facebook page on the day.
RACE RESULTS
To include your results in the newsletter please email Andrea (newsletter@chaser.me.uk) with the details. A brief description of what you thought of the race and if you would recommend it to others would be great too, but not essential. There is no need to send results from Club races such as Summer League, Southern Athletics League and Start Fitness Metropolitan Cross Country League as these are gathered by the team captains / event managers.
Following a couple of quietish weeks on the race front, Chasers have been out and about racing all over the country and Europe - many congratulations to you all. A good sprinkling of personal and seasonal best times too which is great to see. Lucy Francis has completed her second Ironman in a matter of weeks in the inaugural event in Vichy – impressive!
RICHMOND HALF MARATHON, 6 September
‘A perfect morning for running at the Richmond Half Marathon, my first race back from a stress fracture in May. A lovely flat course winding along the river, well organised, staggered starts to ensure you’re running alongside those of a similar pace without much bunching. The support was good in patches, which isn’t overly important for a half, culminating in a well organised finish. Left nothing out on the course with a strong kick with 3 miles to go to give me a pb time on my watch. Back to Tuesday and Thursday trainings at the end of the month!’ Chris Zair
‘It was the only race I’ve done where the goody bag contained a can of beer...’ Ben Barker
(The London Marathon always has beer in the goody bag – Ed)

VETRUVIAN TRIATHLON (HALF IRONMAN DISTANCE), RUTLAND, 28 August
‘Jeanette Foley competed in the Vetruvian Triathlon on Saturday. Half ironman distance at Rutland Water in the Midlands. Excellent time of 5:58:56 which was miles better than she expected. 1.9k swim. 85k bike. Half marathon. Lovely sunny day. Recommended.’ James Byford
HARLOW 10 MILES, 6 September
‘It was my first time doing this particular race but I’d recommend it. Easy to get to from London and a good, undulating course with a fast finish on the track. Also brilliant marshalls and a technical T-shirt to boot!’
Lizzy Muggeridge 1:25:19 (pb)
