CLUB NEWS

Please accept my apologies for the mix up with the newsletter last week. There was a technical hitch, out of our control, and of course you were only meant to receive one not several emails.

Many CONGRATULATIONS TO RUTH AND ADAM who were married on Saturday 18 July.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of our Summer League race at The Regent’s Park today and especially to Rob Mitchell, all the marshalls and cooks! There was a really good turnout of members, including in the tenderfoot race and a couple of original members who were out partying last night. Thankfully the rain stopped and the sun shone helping to make the day all the more enjoyable.

Founder member Gerry Naughton hosted a splendid party for original (and current members) last night at the Pineapple. It was a joy to meet up with the people who had started our club and to hear their stories and adventures in cross country, road and athletics competitions (including high hurdles and pole vaulting). It is great to see that the wit and sociability of the club continues today and to know that through the lifetime membership awards that were made last night that our root membership is still very much involved. Two of our original members joined in Summer League today and Gerry was there to cheer everyone on.

Congratulations to Jonathan Thomson on an impressive overall win at the SW Aquathlon last Tuesday evening. It is probably time we re-stocked our triathlon kit to ensure all active multi-sport members can be seen in the club strip. If you are a member and would like to be part of the conversation about all things multi-sport please request to join the Facebook Triathlon page.

SOUTHERN ATHLETICS LEAGUE
There is just one event left in the SAL and we need athletes for track and field events and volunteers to join the team in Newham, August 15. For details please see the club website and register your interest via the events page or email Kelly at athletics@chaser.me.uk

MILE RELAYS & 5Ks, MONDAY EVENINGS
The popular Sri Chinmoy 3 x 1 mile relays return this summer on Mondays 20 JULY and 10 AUGUST. Please register your interest via the online form on our website events page http://15o9.mj.am/link/15o9/ks99467/1/m26BhzzSoAaIKQY-dPnKzw/aHR0cDovL3d3dy5jaGFzZXIubWUudWsvbmV3cy9zaWduVXA all signees can then be contacted and teams agreed. Although very competitive at the front of the field, this is a fantastic, fun event for members of all ages and abilities where the cheering is loud and the atmosphere electric. The entry fee is 4:50 per person. Sri Chinmoy also organise 5K races over the summer, the remaining dates are 13, 27 July and 3 August.

ESSEX WAY RELAY
Seb has entered the club into the Essex way relay, Sunday 6th September (the day after the Chaser's summer bbq). We need a mixed team of 10 to compete and a couple of backups in case of injury. Each leg is somewhere between five and 10 miles of the 82 mile, mainly trail, course.
It's free to enter, however we probably need to hire two cars or contribute to petrol money if people bring their own cars, although the club may help with this.
Please have a look at the website and sign up to our team on the events calendar on the Chaser's website: http://15o9.mj.am/link/15o9/ks99467/2/iNkgGfLU2gYnGKj2RXXBNw/aHR0cDovL3d3dy5jaGFzZXIubWUudWsvbmV3cy9zaWduVXAucGhwP2lkPTE3MA
Please also let me know if you intend to drive. The date means it's a good warm up for autumn marathons.

TRIATHLON
Triathlon England London League
We are one of the participating clubs in the Triathlon England London League. The club website events page has details of the races or www.triathlonengland.org.uk. We are currently mid-table in the mob match and it would be great if we could earn a few more points before the end of the season.
Triathlon England run a series of duathlons at the Velopark at the Olympic Park including women only events www.veloparkduathlons.com for details.
For members who are interested in triathlon we have set up a Facebook page please let Andrea know via newsletter@chaser.me.uk if you are interested in being part of this group.

For those of you who are on STRAVA, we have a Mornington Chasers STRAVA group (http://15o9.mj.am/link/15o9/ks99467/4/uwL2PGhQfSzoPu_NJx-CVA/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuc3RyYXZhLmNvbS9jbHVicy9tb3JuaW5ndG9uLWNoYXNlcnM). Members can like each other's activities, comment on them or simply see what others are doing. Thank you to Phil Tysoe for the reference.

The free Couch to 5K programme, continues to grow with additional people signing up. Details about the programme are available on the club website together with a signing-up form.
