CLUB NEWS
An exciting weekend of racing for many members with a mix of events, distances and disciplines and a raft of personal best (pb) times. Kelly Thorneycroft displayed a team captain's performance winning both the 3000m and 1500m in pb times in the Southern Athletics League (SAL). Gutsy performances by Petra Marton in the long jump followed by 1500m steeplechase epitomised the spirit of what our first year back in the SAL is all about - being part of a team and enjoying the experience of trying out new things. Long jump could become very popular! If you would like to be part of the team please contact Kelly at athletics@chaser.me.uk Specific track and field training sessions are to be planned over the next few weeks. For all the results see below.
SUMMER LEAGUE saw the first match today at Dulwich. Results to follow, hopefully in next week's newsletter and, in the meantime, possibly on the Summer League website. Fiona Russell collected the trophies for any of last year's individual winners and runners-up and they will be available to collect from week beginning 8 June. A list of winners to be published once confirmed.
Fiona Russell joins the committee (co-opted) as our NEW KIT MANAGER. Fiona brings a wealth of club experience to the committee and is a great asset. If you have any kit queries or ideas please let Fiona know.
It is now possible to upload your PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPH to the website so other members can put names to faces and try to recognise who they are running with. Please add your picture to your profile by going to www.chaser.me.uk/joining/memberdetails.php
Do you have plans to, or currently use the PARLIAMENT HILL TRACK for training at times other than just during club training sessions? If so, please contact Andrea at newsletter@chaser.me.uk with details.
Last Thursday evening a few of us met with Jon Train, Regional Manager TRIATHLON ENGLAND for him to find out more about our club and for us to discover more about them. If you join Triathlon England as a member of Mornington Chasers you receive an £11 discount. There are plenty of events coming up over the summer for both experienced triathletes and those completely new to the sport. A new Facebook Page has been established exclusively for club members who are either already involved in triathlon or interested in being so. It's a closed group where we can freely exchange training tips, talk about events, plan training days etc If you would like to join this group please send an email to triathlon@chaser.me.uk

BRISTOL 10K, Sunday 31 May
Excellent run from Julia in very tough windy conditions. Everyone was slow and Julia was one of the few people to PB. She beat winner of the Manchester Marathon Georgie Brunviels, 2012 Olympic marathon runner Claire Hallissey, and GB marathon runner Lucy MacAlister - so she is starting to mix it with some pretty big names. The really fast times will come but to PB and beat such strong competition in those conditions was excellent.
