CLUB NEWS
Many congratulations to JULIA DAVIS on a well controlled race and impressive win on Saturday at Parliament Hill in the Night of 10000m pbs. Running comfortably with a group but avoiding being blocked in, with around six laps to go Julia pulled away and gobbled up the metres between her and the lead woman (who had apparently won the equivalent race last year). As the gap narrowed, Julia looked by far the stronger and took the lead pushing home her advantage with a couple of laps to go. Julia was the only Mornington Chaser runner in this year's event but there was much to enjoy and cheer in a brilliant evening of racing on a track we all know so well! Full race report covering the British Championships and Trial for European Cup can be reached through www.highgateharriers.org.uk
Seb was out and about last weekend pinning up POSTERS and leaving flyers to attract NEW MEMBERS to the club. Huge thanks to Seb for his work on this and to Anna Waterman for the design and organising printing. Please speak to Seb if you'd like posters for your work place, doctor's surgery, library or other relevant sites.
SOUTHERN ATHLETICS LEAGUE (SAL) next event is 31 May, the same day as the first SUMMER LEAGUE 5 mile race (and prize giving for last year). Kelly is putting the SAL team together. Please email her at athletics@chaser.me.uk to take part in our first season of track racing for about 20 years. There is no need to pre-register with the organiser, Lizzy Muggeridge, for the Summer League.
After Thursday night training this week (21 May), Seb is organising a DRINK session at the CAMDEN BREWERY. Located right next to Talacre Leisure Centre, everyone is welcome.
A fabulous mix of events in the results roundup this week demonstrating the diversity and wide interests and abilities within the club. Race results and info towards the end of this newsletter.
For upcoming events and races please visit the EVENTS LISTING on our website where you can sort by type of race. www.chaser.me.uk and you can now link events from the page through to your calendar.
