CLUB NEWS

The first event in 2015 SOUTHERN ATHLETICS LEAGUE was the day before the London Marathon. Many thanks to Kelly for spurring on the athletics initiative. Our return to competition was rewarded with inspiring performances, pb times, a few high scoring events and bags of enthusiasm. Individual results are posted in the results section below. The next meeting is 30th May. To be part of the team, please contact Kelly athletics@chaser.me.uk

Many congratulations to Lizzy Muggeridge who continues to slash her times with another huge pb at Highbury parkrun on Saturday, 25:52. parkrun is a free weekly timed 5K run in parks all over the country and internationally. For full results and details about events visit www.parkrun.org.uk

This Tuesday is pub night! After the runs and tea everyone is welcome to come along to Tapping the Admiral.

The fast, flat, Sri Chinmoy Monday night races start in Battersea Park 11 May with a 5K. Key dates for your diaries are the mile relays 20 July and 10 August.

The Westminster Mile is Sunday 24 May. Starting where the marathon finishes on the Mall and ending in front of Buckingham Palace, this is a great way to test your mile on a timed, accurately measured, fast route.

For more upcoming events and races please visit the EVENTS LISTING on our website where you can sort by type of race. www.chaser.me.uk

RESULTS are listed as the last item of the newsletter. They do not appear automatically except for Club team events. If you would like to share your results with other members please email details about the race and your time to newsletter@chaser.me.uk

CLUB CLOTHING
As a paid up member of the Mornington Chasers you get to own and wear our distinctive club vest - essential for track events! To claim your vest, please print out the Pay-Pal membership confirmation email and bring it along on a Tuesday evening and talk to one of the team captains (Anna, Hannah, John Armstrong or Seb).
The Club also has hoodies for sale at £20.00 - a most useful item for keeping warm at cross country and on cool summer days.

Sunday
Long run – these runs are generally for members who can run a minimum of 10 miles non-stop. Except when there are Summer League races taking place, runs from Talacre on Sunday mornings usually start at 0900. Please check our Facebook page for up-to-the-minute info as times and pace groups do vary.

SUMMER LEAGUE
The Summer League is a series of five Sunday morning 'inter-club race events'. Each 'event' includes an adult race of either 5 miles or 10K, a one-mile tenderfoot race for children, a very short parent and toddler race and 400m relays that involve just about everyone. If you have children they are very welcome to participate for the club making these a terrific family outing. The host club lays on a feast, marshals and organises their event with everything completed usually by lunchtime. Points are scored with team and individual prizes at the end of each season presented at the start of the next - this year at Dulwich Park. Lizzy Muggeridge is our Summer Series organiser for 2015. We lost the Club cup last year and it would be great to win it back again!

Rob Mitchell is race directing the event we host, Sunday 19 July.

TRIATHLON
Triathlon England London League
We are one of the participating clubs in the Triathlon England London League and there are 10 adult races in the series. Everyone who enters can have an effect on the team results and there are also prizes for individual performances. Each race is different with a mix of pools and open water swimming, cycling on roads and closed circuits and running on and off road. And, of course, there are always fabulous cakes!

The next event, which sold out really quickly, is Crystal Palace Triathlon, Sunday 10 May. Several members are taking part and representing the club and cheering is always welcome.

For full details and how to enter links visit www.triathlonengland.org.uk

Hannah has been checking out potential Triathlon training sessions, please see our Facebook page for links and details.

TRACK RACING / ATHLETICS
Kelly Thorneycroft is organising our debut season in the SOUTHERN ATHLETICS LEAGUE. We join in Division 3 NE.

Everyone is encouraged to have a go at track racing: a fantastic way to put all that track training to use, to sharpen your speed and race tactics. And, you have all your team mates cheering you on!

For further details please contact Kelly (athletics@chaser.me.uk) and visit www.southernathletics.org.uk for a list of all the events, past results and more.

If you are aged over 35 you can race in 'Masters' events. Our regional club which provides affiliation to British Masters Athletics Federation and opens up the opportunity to participate in national and international events, is Veterans AC, www.vetsac.org.uk for details.

RACE RESULTS
To include your results in the newsletter, please email Andrea (newsletter@chaser.me.uk) with the details. A brief description of what you thought of the race and if you would recommend it to others would be great too, but not essential.
