CLUB NEWS

Julia Davis won the women's cup in Brighton Half Marathon today in a time of 1:18:20, a significant pb and victory - congratulations Julia on a fantastic achievement and to her (and our) coach Tom Craggs.

Many congratulations to Patrick and Angharad who married on Valentine’s Day (14 February) in London and all good wishes for a long and happy life together.

Last year we lost the Summer Series cup to Ealing Eagles - we'd love to get it back! Details and dates for 2015 are listed below, please put them in your diary today! The more people of every age and ability taking part the more likely we are to win the coverted trophy back again.

The first meeting of the new committee is to be held on Monday 2 March 2015 19:30 at Talacre, all members are welcome to attend.

MORNINGTON CHASERS REGENT'S PARK 10K - URGENT REQUEST
Two volunteers are urgently needed to represent the club at the last of our 10K races this season. This series of races funds many of our activities and it is important that we are there to support the race and answer any questions. If you can help, please contact one of the race captains on Tuesday or by email. Thank you!

SAUCONY NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
15 Chaser men and five women braved the muddy conditions at this spectacular event on Saturday. Our first six men came 51st out of 145 clubs and the first nine men came 35th out of 74 clubs and the first four Chaser women came 62nd. Individual results are below.

Many thanks to Mauricio Salidas for volunteering to marshal on behalf of Chasers. He was out on the course from 10am until the end of the mens race. Also thanks to everyone who came along to watch, cheer and help out - Hannah, Becky, Dan, Ruth and of course, Anna, who organised the Chaser team so successfully and provided home-baked cakes.

It was a brilliant race with top running and performances. The course was tough, lots of slow stodgy mud, sloppy mud swamps and slippery down hills. With the sunny and mild weather, it was an absolutely perfect day to round off the XC season. Fingers crossed that the frog spotted by one runner survived the day.

COACHES AND RUN LEADERS
Hannah McQuarrie is gathering info about the Clubs wealth of coaching talent. If you have coaching / run leader qualifications or are in the process of attaining them please let her know: your qualifications, date and whether you have the full licence / insurance; if you lead runs at the club and how often; if there are other things you would be willing to do that use your coaching skills and experience.

SUMMER SERIES DATES
The Summer League is a series of five Sunday morning 'inter-club race events' run over the summer. Each 'event' includes an adult race of either 5 miles or 10K, a one-mile tenderfoot race for children, a very short parent and toddler race and 400m relays that involve just about everyone. The host club lays on a feast, marshals and organises their event. Points are scored with team and individual prizes at the end of each season presented at the start of the next. Lizzy Muggeridge is our Summer Series organiser this year. We lost the Club cup last year and it would be great to win it back again in 2015!

Please put these Summer Seriesdates in your diary:
31 May – Dulwich Park (hosted by Dulwich Park Runners)
14 June – Headstone Manor (hosted by Metros)
5 July – Perivale (hosted by Ealing Eagles – change from ESM in previous years)
19 July – Regent’s Park (hosted by Mornington Chasers, volunteers and cooks also required)
16 August – Battersea Park (hosted by Serpentine)

15 February 2015 - Baldock Beast Half Marathon
A beautiful, undulating course through the Hertfordshire countryside. It is a tough but not beastly race run on country roads with two off road sections. The Chaser contingent would heartily recommend this race with this the third visit for most of us. The day was capped off by a visit to the Orange Tree Pub for a Sunday roast lunch and an excellent selection of beers and ciders.

15 February 2015 - South England Masters Indoor Championships, Lee Valley
First masters indoor race of the season at the fabulous Lee Valley Athletics Centre. The banked 200m track feels bouncy and a real treat to run on. There is no hiding place with indoor track which helps focus the mind. Thoroughly recommended!
