Overview & Introduction

Mornington Chasers is a sociable London running club catering for runners of all levels. Whether you are a complete beginner, an improver or a semi-professional you will find like-minded people to run with.

We meet regularly for club training sessions, covering training runs, track sessions, technique improvement, Yoga for runners and much more.

Boasting over 250 members, with weekly training runs regularly seeing 40 members in attendance, there is a great opportunity to meet like minded runners of all abilities. Our Club Committee oversee the smooth running of the club, and support its members through their training, competing and socialising.

Aims of the Club

  • To encourage members of all abilities to enjoy and to have fun through running.
  • To promote the health and fitness of members through running.
  • To provide social activities for members of the Club.
  • To promote Amateur Athletics.

Why we are Special?

There are a number of reasons that we believe make Mornington Chasers stand out as a running club:

  • Our approach is to provide training opportunities at all levels, from beginners to competitive runners - our club members are not defined by their performance. You can review our training schedule overview and look at our different training groups to see how we fit to individual experience and needs.
  • The social aspect is very important to us. Our Social committee organises a number of events throughout the year, and we have tea and biscuits after our midweek training runs. See our social pages for more details.
  • The club is multi-cultural and multi-ability and therefore provides opportunities to make interesting friendships and widen your running experiences.

Where we Run

Located at the Talacre Sports Center in North London, we are within easy reach of Kentish Town, Camden Town and Chalk Farm tubes. We're ideally located just a mile away from Hampstead Heath, with nearly 800 acres of magical glades, woodland, heathland and meadows, it makes for varied and interesting runs.

Regents Park and Primrose Hill are also easily in our reach, and provide ideal territory for structured training and hill sessions.

We make use of Parliament Hill Athletics Track on Hampstead Heath under the instruction of our club coach who runs a series of track sessions for members.

See our location page for our detailed location, and where we meet for club runs.

How we Train

We run multiple training sessions each week, providing training runs of different lengths and difficulties to suit our varied member base.

Our main weekly meeting is on Tuesday where we typically run up to 6 different groups with runs over Hampstead Heath, Regents Park & the surrounding areas.

Our Thurday sessions are generally targeted towards structured training, such as hill & track sessions and interval & reps.

On Sunday a group sets off on a long run (at least 2 hours) to provide distance training to members.

We also provide training beyond running such as Yoga classes for runners, and lots of useful tips to help you improve.

Competitions

As a London running club we participate and compete in a wide range of events, both in the UK and internationally. We compete in various team events such as the Metropolitan League and Cross Country Championships. We also host our own Regents Park 10K races throughout the Winter, and take part in events outside London such as the Welsh Castles Rally.

Club members are encouraged to compete in individual events in the club colours.

Socialising

Of course winding down is important too and we are well known for our friendly welcome to all runners, and our commitment to the social aspects the club provides. Our dedicated social team organise a number of events throughout the year, allowing members to rest their weary legs and relax!

You can see some examples of the social side of the club on the Social Committee pages.
